The first round of our fight is as always the price. New Mazda as a great high-quality car with great popularity rankings is more affordable than Toyota. As the latter one has a price of $25,000, and it is about $5,500 more than new 2012 Mazda 5 Sport. In terms of the engine, the situation is a little different, but just a little. Justifying lower price new Mazda got the 2.5-Liter 4-cylinder engine with power output of 157-hp, while new Toyota got the 2.7-Liter 4-cylinder with the 187-horses. Though Toyota is falling back in fuel economy, offering 19 mpg in the city and 24 mpg on the highway, which is about 4 mpg less than new Mazda.
