Test drive: Mercedes-Benz M-Class, Land Rover Range Rover Sport, BMW X5 Part I

February 7, 2015 at 14:58

The design of the new Mercedes-Benz ML seems a bit strange. But in general the crossover looks powerful and solid, especially when the lights have stylish LEDs in the headlights. In the profile it is virtually identical to the previous generation model, which, in fact, was built on the same chassis.
However undercarriage was thoroughly modernized. In particular, ML has got active anti-roll bars, improved comfort and increased suspension travel. The optional equipment is air suspension, as well as off-road package On & Offroad. But active dampers are included in the basic package.

BMW X5 needs no introduction. Crossover is available already for sixth year and two years ago suffered the procedure of planned restyling, which further ennobled its appearance. Although it was not required: X5 in any form looks modern and aggressive, as befits a real BMW. In 2014, should see the light of a new generation of models.

Range Rover Sport in our test is “the old man”. SUV is produced since 2005 and during that time was updated more than once. Compared with rivals it is most brutal: angular forms, rectilinear surface – a real man’s design.

The prefix “Sport” in the title here seems superfluous. However, this is against the background of our competitors on the test, and if you compare it with the “cousins” of the brand Land Rover, it seems more than a sport.
